NO PLAN. JUST CLAY.

Ceramics from a shared studio in South West London.

ABOUT

Kimbers Cinders started without any idea where it might lead.

My life followed a fairly clear path. I worked in healthcare and built a career. Outside work, life had its own twists and turns. Somewhere along the way came change, illness, a baby girl, and the strange experience of letting go of one version of life before knowing what the next chapter might look like (and realising you will never know).

Clay arrived somewhere in the middle of all that.

Turning up to make is one of the few activities I have consistently gone out of my way to do. I knew there was something about clay that kept me showing up. A place to think less and make more.

The pieces I make now are shaped by those experiences. Not in a literal sense, but in the way they are made. There is experimentation, uncertainty and plenty of trial and error. Some ideas work. Many don't.

The draw for me is showing up, finding out, and being surprised by what emerges.
